I really like both my Glock 27 and Glock 23. Before purchasing my S&W 442 a few months ago my G27 was my full time carry. I still carry my G27 but I'm finding as the weather gets warmer in South Carolina that my new 442 is getting more carry time than the G27. Is this just me or has this happened to others?

My G23 was always my off-duty carry. Lately I've been carrying my 442 more and more.

Either great minds think alike, or we're both getting lazy.

I'm going with the "great minds think alike."

Yep, my 642 now lives in my pocket every day. It's just so easy to carry now that warmer weather is here. The real test will be whether or not I go back to carrying the Ruger Speed Six once the colder weather returns.

+1 fellow NHdude.

Only my cold weather carry is a S&W 3" model 65.

I have carried a J-Frame for many, many years. There have been times I have "cheated" on it and slipped a semi in my waistband, but I always come back to the J.

As a matter of fact, I have decided to rid myself of temptation by selling my 39-2 and 3913 since I just don't think, for my purposes, I can beat the J-Frame for comfort. Ankle or pocket, it's the best, at least for me.

But, I might feel differently if I lived "up north" where one wears a jacket for several months of the year. But, here in Paradise, shorts or jeans and a T-shirt or Polo and Dockers are my daily dress. The J-frame is just meant for my style of dress.

Same here.
As the weather warms and clothes get thinner and lighter. Just so I don't get out of practice I started carrying the Ti J in the off side pocket along with the "usual".

Do as you please, but I would carry the J frame as a BUG and in my weakhand front pocket. What you have on you is what you will have to use if you're forced to fight. I refuse to carry anything less than a full size, full power gun if at all possible.

Up here in the sometimes frozen north (Michigan) I can and sometimes do carry a full size 1911. Most of the time, summer or winter I carry a J-frame. It is just eaiser in a heavy coat pocket in the winter or in a front pants pocket in the summer. Mine is a 340 M&P (.357 mag) so it has plenty of power.

I am the same. I always carried a custom 1911 of some sort for 28 years. I started to carry a titanium .337 with a bobbed hammer and trigger job that is sweet. I find that I never leave the house without it. Sometimes I carry a big gun as well but not always.

I carry a J frame in my pocket, though as of late, I'm increasingly carrying a heavier steel frame gun in preference to either my 637 or 638. Few ounces heavier = eh. Easier to shoot = happy/warm/goodness.

My version of lazy is not having another one tucked up under my arm on the panel carrier of my vest.

I carry a Sig P229R on my hip, save for those days that I carry a 4" 629. I live in VA, gets hot here. I just untuck my shirt. No one notices or cares.

It's the "need a gun" rule, clause B. Clause A involves just having a gun. Clause B is that when you need a gun, you *really* need a gun.

Just traded away my Kahr CW9, which was my off duty gun, because I carry my 9mm 360J all the time. I did it up for use as a BUG only but it is so light and compact and shoots so well I started carrying it off duty too. Now it's with me all the time.

Plus the trade worked out well. I swapped the Kahr, with it's accessories, for a S&W 22A-1 with the big Dymond wood grips and a Uberti 1871 Baby Rolling Block .22. I haven't shot the Uberti yet, bu it's a sweet little rifle. I did put about 50 rds through the 22A-1 and it shoots great, very accurate. A local gun shop is going out of business and the manager is a friend, he's making me deals I can't say no to!

Funny timing for this thread. While I love my M&P 9c, I've been pondering a 442 for a better conceil during really warm weather and the wardrobe that goes with it. Although, I've been reading of some issues with them...hope that's not the case.

You will love your 442 with a in the pocket holster. Great carry for warmer weather.
