S&W 59s and S&W 100 grain 9mm ammo

Pictures attached: "White Box" Winchester nickel case 100 gr. FMJ Q4032, 100 gr. Power Point, Federal 115 gr. JHP 9BPIL, and the 110 grain SWC practice bullet and of the Federal 95 gr with the WW 100 FMG, 100 PP and 115 JHP.

All the Power Point I saw was is in regular factory boxes. I've not previously seen a claim that ISP used WW 115 ball. I'm glad ISPcapt found some of the 9PBIL. I was told at the time that it was +P+ but memories vary on that. As with the Federal .38 EIL, Federal has no records - or at least easily searchable records that they will share.

In a 1980 article in Law & Order (with Tpr. Wellenkamp on the cover), Ayoob stated that the 1400 fps Federal 95 gr. was +P+. My boxes - that might be commercial rather than issue, even though they came from a trooper - don't have the LE pressure warning that the 9 BPIL and .38EIL boxes do. Ayoob reported 1200 fps velocities for all the 100 grain loads although ISP claimed 1380 at first.

Back to the original question. I shot and carried S&W/Fiochi 100 grain soft point and hollow point ammunition. Both were flat tipped, even the soft point, with a smooth profile -- not truncated cone shaped. S&W sold similar shaped 115 grain JHP ammunition. I probably had some. All fed and shot fine.

The very short S&W 90 grain Hemispherical head soft point - designed and marketed by Amron - reportedly did not feed well. I wasn't in on the testing, but my department bought a case thinking S&W must work in S&W pistols. It didn't.

P.S. Never a trooper but was a 9 mm armed cop of the era.

You know you can buy 9x19mm +P and 38 Special +P brass from Starline, don't you? With the exception of 38 Special WC brass, there is no difference between standard and +P brass other than the case head marking.

Yes, but there are reason why I want to do this:

-I want the +P marked brass for a project

-The boxes these Remington rounds came in are destroyed, held together by tape

-Further I dont want a 95gr bullet for my .38spec, I bought these for $5/50 two years ago

-I want to shoot my new steel targets I am making
