I wish S&W would make a 614--stainless version of the 14-5/6/7: stainless steel, 6" barrel w/ full underlug, .38SPL, target sights (Partridge/adjustable), D&Ted for a scope.

I suppose I could just get a 686-4/5/6, put a Partridge front sight on it, and load .357Magnum cases down to .38Special levels...

yeah, there wouldn't be much of a market for it, since a .357 Magnum Model-686 shoots all the same ammo as a .38 Special Model-14, and all the Cool Kids™ mostly shoot autoloaders in the target disciplines.

I just have a thing for K-frames and .38 Special.

True enough except the K-frame is not
an L-frame, and the original 14 doesn't have a
full underlug. However, IF S&W made a 614 it
probably would get a full underlug since they
seem to have that as a standard practice these
days, as well IF they did it would prablay be in 6" and 4" models like the 617 which is sort of a morph ofthe older 17/18 models w/full underlug barrels.

The S&W 14-5 (1980s), -6 (1990s), and -7 (late 1990s) all had the full underlug, with the -6 and -7 (MIM parts) being D&Ted for a scope.

I was kinda hoping for a stainless version of the -7 (since S&W probably won't ever go back to the forged parts); I'd even take a Hillary Hole on it...
