With the scarcity of popular ammo in my area and the prices going crazy.I finally, after all of these years decided to get a mouse gun revolver style. It looks and feels like the real thing, except for the little bitty hole where the bullit comes out from.

My.... That's a large barrel you have.

I picked up a 617 4" 10rd awhile back, think I paid $650. Since then I picked up some DS-10 speedloaders and actually shot a IDPA "open" session with it once or twice. Surprisingly, I think I shot better with it than my other pistols although their limited rounds at start and limited rds at reloads became a pain as I had to index the cylinder before I closed the crane... (Guess they didn't like me shooting a 10rd revolver.)

thats how the .22 addiction starts, one can lead to many. Dont get me wrong, I shoot a lot of "big" caliber stuff including .50 BMG. But I cant get enough .22, it is the most fun in my opinion........

My .22 revolver addiction started back in 1989 with a 617 no dash with the 8 3/8ths inch barrel. She is heavy but she really can shoot! I have more .38's and .357's but the .22 LR gets the most action.
Congratulations on your purchase.

Don't get me wrong,I'm not new to the game.I got the Smith bug big time a while back and have a nice collection of Smith's by most peoples' standards, including a four Third Gen Smiths in 9mm,two of which that were purchased unfired in the box,6 .22 semis including a 41 and a Colt Woodsman Second Series born around 1954 in mint, mint condition.Where I really have it bad is with the revolvers.I have a couple of dozen magnums, all in stainless except for a 28 HP.I just really like the feel of the wheelguns over a semi and for some reason seem to shoot much better with them, not really sure why. Like I mentioned the main reasons that I got the 617 were the prices of ammo here in Ontario. Now I finally have one in a rimfire revolver as a cost cutting measure.I normally shoot 38/357 and .44 mag.The biggest drawback and main reason that I don't go to the range near as much as I would like, is the cost of ammo.I don't reload so I have to buy factory rounds. It definitely takes some of the fun factor out of it when .38's and 357's run at $30 with tax in and .44's over $35 plus.

My friend, I can sympathize with you in Canada and the folks here in the States. All have the same problem with commercial ammo. The solution is really very simple. Easy to learn and easy to do. Reload your own. I can reload anything from 9mm to 45 colt for less than $7/box using commercial cast bullets. It's a no-brainer.

I also shoot .22 from my M17 cus it's even cheaper yet. By the way, that's some nice gun and love the grips.
