I just bought a new 617. I had a choice between a 4" and 6" barrel. I followed the advice of the good folks on the forum and chose the 4". The feedback was awesome. I paid little more than I wanted to ($750). But in the words of my father the used car dealer....if the customer thinks that he got a good deal then he did. Thanks forum. :)

What? You bought the 4"barrel? Noooooooo! The 6" is so much better, you're going to be so sorry.
Just kidding...they're both great. I have a 6" and love it but will be buying a 4" as soon as I have the money and can find one. Congrats on your purchase, $750 is not bad for this hard to find and very fine revolver.

I had a 6", stupidly traded it off and hated myself for doing it. Recently bought a 4" and like you, I had the chance to compare the 4 & 6" side by side and I paid the same price as you. When I bought the 6" a few years ago, it was $720.00 from the same store. $30.00 in inflation in three years.

I had a 6" and sold it and got the 4", and like it better.
Congrats, a great .22.

I bought a 4" last fall. Great Gun and lots of fun to shoot.

Congrats! I also picked up my 617 4" today. One of those right place at the right time purchases.

Now you need to get that 6 inch version. both are great revolvers and different enough in handling etc. to justify having 2 (as if we needed any reasons other than want).

I'm still waiting for my LGS to produce a 4" (only since 1/28). He's charging the same: $750 out the door. The wait is only going to make finding one sweeter.

Great gun; enjoy. This is my favorite target gun for the range. I have the 4" and traded a Kimber Ultra Carry for it. There is no doubt in my mind that I got the best of that trade!

Congrats!

I went with the 6" because it suits me fine for shooting steel plates. The extra weight out front and longer sight radius work well for me.

That said, I'll likely get a 4" someday too!

Congrats, vette!

I just picked up a 6" -2 with aluminum cylinder late last week!

I'm glad I went when I did because they were getting calls on it while I was there buying it :D

I owned both the 617 No Dash in 6 inch and in 4 inch and they are both great revolvers. I eventually sold the 6 inch and I kept the 4 inch because I thought it balanced better in my hand.

I use the 6 inch for Steel Challenge. When my LGS had the 4 inch available I could not let it slip away. I knew how hard they are to find. I have it as a fun range gun and as a back up for Steel.
