what are the characteristics that make up a 629-2E? like barrel lengths, grips, etc. not much info in the S&W 4th Ed other than it was an endurance package. I didn't see a production code on it either. It is my understanding that there were only made or at least stamped 2E in 1989. I've read that only 3200 were possibly made.
up until today I've not heard of a -2E.

My recommendation would be to buy it if you can and like it...

It is a transitional model, not many made and that were stamped, unfluted, Classic Hunter (BEE prefix???) and just cool.

As a whole, there were not many 629-2's made in general and there is some fun/interesting history with these -2E's.

For the time period/era, it is one of the more interesting offerings from the factory in my opinion and is generally prized by collectors. What this means for value is anyone's guess.

there asking 2k w/o box, papers, or tools. seems a little high to me but due to the lack of price history its hard to price it. but I agree with you as to it being a transitional model and worth waiting out the seller.
