Back in the beginning of June I asked about the 945 and received some great suggestions.

http://smith-wessonforum.com/smith-wesson-semi-auto-pistols/140251-s-w-4-inch-45-945-1911-recon.html

My search was successful,, a 945 has started the move to my safe. Now I need to look in the bin for a holster or two.

I will be looking for a pancake and something like the S&W model 21 or maybe an old USGI flap style for field use.

I'm guessing there are no 945 specific models out there besides forbus?? don't want plastic or nylon..

The question: I'm fairly sure a 1911 model holster wil not fit the 945 slide?? so is the 945 slide closer to a S&W 59?? or SIG,, or H&K???

Thanks in advance..

PS: here is a pic I have from the seller..

Probably closer to a 4566, you could get a custom made holster. There's a couple around here that could do it.

I'v done a little homework and come up with the 1st cut on a holster matrix.

Comments??

645-745-845-4526-4546-4506-4505-4565-1006 = 5" 945
457-4513-4553-4513tsw = 3 3/4" 945
4516-4536-4556 = 3 1/2" 945
4563tsw-4566-4576-4583tsw-sig 220/226 = 4" 945
Sig 228/229 = 6906, 4013 and 4516.
Sig 239 = 3913 = Glock 23 holster.

Based on fora quotes and google fu.

I carry my 4506/645/1006 in a Desantis insider. Very well made/affordable/minimal. And you don't wait friken 1/2 a year to get it.

Look for holsters made for the 4506... the 945 5" fits them since it's basically a 4506 top end wearing the Performance Center embellishments. I carry my 4506-1 and PC 945 in a Safariland paddle holster and they both fit equally well. I'd take a look at the Bianchi "UM" (universal military) series covered holsters... if you're planning to be bouncing around on a 4-wheeler ATV in dusty area's, it should provide the level of retention and protect you're thinking of.

I carried a 4563 with rail in a duty holster made for a sig 220. It is a Bianchi Grabber , a duty belt holster. For plain clothes, I have a desantis holster, again, made for the 220/226. They fit fine.

I've found that holsters for the Sig 220 work well with the 4566.

Sig 226 holsters generally work with the 5900 and 4000 series pistols as well.

Sig 228/229 usually work with the 6906, 4013 and 4516.

Sig 239 holster works with my 3913, as does the Glock 23 holster.

Glock holsters will work for many of the same dimensioned 3rd generation guns as well. Regards 18DAI.

Forgot to add,, I didn't find a comparison of the MP45 to the 45xx line, Need help if someone as both..
Thanks

Well, My new toy arrived this AM. I went thru my draws and tried all my holsters. Here are the results of those that fit.

Milt Sparks - old Idaho City, un-marked model, fits very well

Black Hills Slide, fits very well, marked S&W MP 45C

Blackhawk CQC kydex, Glock 23 model, fit OK, trigger guard does engage

Blackhawk tactical drop leg kydex and nylon, 1911 model, sloppy but ok..

SpringBok Inc, belt slide kydex, Glock 17/22 model, needs heat gun to adjust, fits my CS9, not going to use

SpringBok Inc, IWB kydex, Ruger 89/90 model, needs heat gun to adjust, fits my S&W M60, 3inch, not going to use

CompTac CTAC, IWB kydex, Glock 26 model, would fit but the end is rolled in, fits my CS9 very well, not going to use

Pager Holster, IWB, fits, not going to use..

The Milt Sparks & Black Hills Holsters work be the 1st choice. The Sparks is a little smaller, but the BH can be used IWB or as a pancake..

Pardon the pics. I need a shadow box?? or something to cut the glare. Also a tripod..
