But I don't know if is for an L frame or a K frame.

Does anyone know if the threads are the same or of they are interchangeable or ??????

Thanks

I'll bet a dollar it is for a model 627. That would be an N frame.

Good luck
Allen

By the way, Dave ,,welcome to the forum!

If you can't use the barrel because it's for an N frame let me know,
I may have a project to put it to use on.

OK, well, I'm an idiot. It is for an N frame.

So I can't use it.

Thanks

BTW, I edited the original post; It came into my possession. It belongs to a friend and I'm supposed to list it for sale. If it had been for a K frame I would have "acquired" it for myself and maybe placed it on a 4" M-66. However, I did really want to put a 2-1/2" on it, not a 3".

daveinvegas,

I have loose N & K frame barrels out in the shop. If you want to measure the O.D. of your's & compare them I'll measure mine. I know the N thread O.D. is larger than the L frame thread. L and K frames might use the same thread. I've been told they do and only differ in that K requires the relief cut for the yoke but I'm not sure. Bullseyesmith probably knows for sure.

One way or the other I don't need it. If it's for an N frame, cut a deal with Allenframe and he'll give it a loving home.

K frame threads are smaller than L frames, if I remember right it seems like about .030 smaller than L frames, I put an L frame barrel on a model 66 and had to turn some off and then rethread. Jeff

jrm53,
Thanks for the information.
An L frame FL barrel on a 66 would turn it into a better target gun. I'd be more inclined to put a 686 barrel on a 67 but you or your customer might have had a different purpose in mind.
