I recently picked up a whole brick of S&W branded 22 long rifle. Marked made in Mexico. Was looking for any info on when it was made. I havent even found a picture of it on line. Any help would be appreciated.
S&W brand ammo was marketed from around 1971-1980. The .22 rimfire ammo was made by Aguila of Mexico. They made two different loads in .22LR and .22Short, a standard velocity and a Hi-Velocity. Also made were two blank loads, one for indoor and one for outdoor use. The standard velocity loads came in a white box and the Hi-Vel came in a dark purple box.
Thanks for the info, mine is the white box. The outer box is a little ratty, but the individual boxes are like new. I just thought they were neat, I had seen the centerfire ammo before but had never seen any rimfire.
