I thought S&W had a "brick" store & range at a Springfield MA location but don't see anything on their web site except an internet store. Is there a web page for location and hours?
Thanks,
Bill

Man, a brick and mortar S&W store would be dream come true.

Yes, a perfect site would be in North Carolina, Moyock specifically. Lot's of property for sale, gun friendly state, and Academi is nearby, for those in the loop.

Once upon a time S&W did have several stores located around the US.

I think it was like six or eight stores.

I think it was in the late 1970s or early 80s

I walked into one at North Myrtle Beach once. Picked up a hat and a "aces and eights" t-shirt. If I remember correctly , you could order a gun there but I don't remember seeing any. This store was located at Barefoot landing I think. Its been a long time ago. When I went back a couple of years later, it was closed and something else was in there. But I can say that I honestly have been in one.:D

The store and range in Springfield were still open up until a couple of years ago.

I'm quite sure I was last there in 2009. It was a GREAT place to introduce new shooters to the sport and to try out various guns.

The range was open to ANYONE who could answer NO to all the questions on a federal eligibility form. I believe it was intended to allow tourists and others to 'get the experience'.

The range also had a pretty good range of rental guns. We rented revolvers, semi-autos, and even got to rent their 500, though there were stricter rules for the 500.

There aren't many places where you can go and rent a gun to try it before you buy it.

The shops prices were a bit high, but the selection was great. They had all the accessories and clothing as well.

I'll miss that place. I'd love to know what caused it to be closed down - a business decision or state hissy fit.

Yep, it was Barefoot Landing. I was there Sept 2001,

I was last there in April of last year. I think it closed in May or June. As I recall, there was an incident with a prohibited person who lied his way on to the range. After that I think the risk managers took over and that was the end.

That is exactly what pulled the plug.

I thought it existed, reading reports of factory tours...I was hoping to get an in person look at a 460V. Worth the 90 minute ride. Oh well.

I was there just before it closed. The Range was VERY nice, but the store was more interested in selling hats, tee shirts, sweatshirts, and other S&W logo emblazoned accessories than it was in selling guns. The nice part about the Range is that they would rent you any gun in the S&W line-up so you could at least try a specific model before buying it. I went there as a guest of the VP so everything I shot that day was on the house..... including the 500 S&W magnums. A very nice day indeed!
