I took a factory tour of S&W and it was a very cool experience. It is a non-union American owned company. There are not alot of large companies like them that can say that. I meet "the" engraver David. Only one. 6 month backlog. All I can say is wow! He has done engravings from $150 up to $15,000. Whatever you pay, it is worth it. Also saw the forging room. Awsome. Barrel manufacturing and rifleing. Assembly. Machining room/building. These guys make their own tools for their machines to make gun parts. I could go on and on. Honestly, I have never been a revolver fan. Until now. If your gonna have a revolver, its gotta be a S&W. These guys make EVERY part in em. Including the SCREWS!

Bottom line is it is worth your time if you are ever in the area of Springfield Massachusetts to set up a tour.

Here is a link to a factory tour that the NRA did for their Rifleman Magazine.

:) I have only been to Mass. one time. I was only a few weeks old. My mother and father didn't have a baby bed for me so I slept in a dresser drawer. :D My dad was working in an ammo plant. I think it was a DuPont plant. I know at one time DuPont made powder in the plant close to Nashville. Dad should have took me on a tour of the S&W plant while we were there. I bet even at that young age I would remember it. :D Don

PS I don't know when we came back to Tn. I guess it was after the war. Dad said he sure was glad to get back home.

I went to the Armorer's school in 87 and the last thing was a factory tour. I had to catch a plane and missed it. Still regret it.

I was not aware that S&W was a non-union shop. More reason to be a proud S&W owner.
