Anyone have one of these? And used one?

It's one of the most underrated knives on the market in my view. Virtually indestructible! The new ones are made out of 440A steel, which is a bummer. The older ones are made of 440C, which are better.

I got three of the old ones and one of the new ones because it was advertised as being one of the older ones but it wasn't.

Either one of them is going to be invulnerable. You can baton with either of them until the cows come home, and you'll have no problems, but the original will keep its edge longer, as 440C is a better grade of steel. ۞

Nice shank! I just sold a new Homeland Security 'First Production Run' folder on here a couple of weeks ago. Kinda having 'seller's remorse' now.....

Don't blame you for your seller's remorse. How much did you sell it for? The damn things are nigh unto indestructible. The only downside is that you have to have to use gloves. The older ones (like the one you got rid of) was made of 440C, as I said. The 440A models aren't bad. I even have one. A new one. But 440C does keep an edge better, though for chopping, who knows?

I've seen people with gloves chop through light timber like it was a hatchet. If you want to baton, you can't get a better knife. I've also seen people wreck quality blades by doing that, but you'll never break or bend a HS fixed blade. I have a couple of SOG knives that are gorgeous, but I'd never baton with either.

If you ever miss your old knife, there are some still available every so often. And, like I said, the new ones are just as robust.
