While helping with an estate, I turned up this S&W stamped Askins style border patrol holster - squished and covered in splotches of mold. I threw it away. ... But then I had second thoughts, fished it out of the trash, cleaned and reshaped it to look presentable.

B07 24.
B for black. The model number 07 Askins style holster is not in my 1970 or 1979 catalogs but I've seen it listed before. Size number 24 for S&W N-frame revolvers. The owner likely had it for the nice Highway Patrolman that I know he owned 30 years ago.

Red puts it in the S&W Leathergoods era, after Wolfram but before G&G. Note the metal shank goes to the top of the belt loop, but only in front of the belt to allow for the screw opening back for attachment to D-ring belts.

Red provided the catalog picture showing the shank of the Wolfram ending below the belt in the fashion of the original Myres Askins holster. I added the picture of the flap holster to show the Wolfram snap loop.

Glad that you fished it back out. Cleaned up very well. Have you tried it out yet?

It went back in the holster box. It doesn't look too bad, but I wouldn't stick a revolver I liked in it.
