S&W M-1926, 5" .44 SPL, Wolf & Klar Model, w/ Letter

…You are laboring under two misconceptions here:

First, W&K was a pawn shop, but they were far more than the average pawn shop. They were a very large retail jewelry store, and a distributor of several brands of firearms, and they sold a lot of sporting goods. They had pearl and ivory grips manufactured. They had stores in other towns and states. They owned other pawn shops…

Thank you, I was aware they were jewelers and distributors. Did they have engravers or did they farm that out?

… Second, Model 1926s were shipped to W&K in large batches, like 50-100 guns. They were often split between blue and nickel guns at roughly 50-50.
Yes, they engraved some.
Yes, they supplied many with pearl or ivory.
BUT- if you wanted a blue gun with Factory grips, I can assure you they had em! …

Fascinating and news to me! Thank you.

… Back to the original topic, I'm pretty sure all the PPD guns are reblued. All I have ever seen were. I once had three PPD guns with consecutive serial numbers. :D;);)

Now, you are just showing off.

Thank you for the interesting tidbits.

Colby Bruce, the answer is yes, it is the pawn shop gun that you alerted me to all those years ago. If I remember right that nickel gun went for about $350. I picked up the second nickel 5" about 9 months later at double that price. Both lettered as W&K guns. One has the gold wash hammer, trigger, thumb latch, and ejector rod. I suspect the rubby eyed steer grips graced another gun.
