Ok...Here goes..........I have to wonder how many were prepared to faceplant forehead to palm with the title....?
I actually have a pleasant experience I wanted to share, since it seems you hear more negative then the postitive ones.
I actually contacted S&W via email 1st and explained the issue I was having with my M&P 9. The M&P 9 Kit was purchased back in Oct 2012. I was having some accuracy issues and had tried just about every brand of factory fodder as well as various handloaded options without much success. I had heard a while back about some success with the KKM/Stormlake barrels and had started looking into them when I was informed that S&W had made a change to the barrels.
So I decided to contact S&W and per their request I sent the M&P back into them to have it checked before going to the expense of ordering up an aftermarket barrel. Well 2 1/2 weeks later the Fed Ex guy shows up at my door and I have the M&P back. They swapped out the 1:18 twist barrel for the new/revised/updated however you want to color it 1:10 twist barrel.
I must say I am rather impressed as I have heard people complain that they had sent theirs in for accuracy issues and were sent the gun back with a note saying it was in their "acceptable" accuracy range.
I do not claim to know what that acceptable range is, but I do know mine would pattern like a scatter gun, even if they didn't replace the barrel, the thought of selling it and giving up on the M&P never crossed my mind. If I had needed to I would have proceeded with the KKM/SL option.
Now It appears I will not need to. I can say I have had most MFG's out there over the last 25 years, and without a doubt Smith CS has been right there with my experience with SIG, Ruger, Beretta and CZ. Which is probably the reason out of all the other brands I have had these are the 5 that have stuck.
Now dont get me wrong I did not mention Glock because I have had good or bad CS. I have never owned glocks and have no experience with their CS. Tried them back in the early 90's. Just not for me. But I can say I have had issues with FNH (Big Headache), Taurus, KeL-Tech (Long time ago), Jericho, IWI/IMI, Springfield etc. And while I may like a certain brands offering if I have to fight to get something fixed, then as much as I hate to it usually means it goes by by when its back and fixed.
So again I just wanted to give the S&W CS Dept kudo's and a lil shout here on the forums, since they did go and do something they could have very easily just said it's ok, and shipped it back as it was sent in.
That is why I have been a long time supporter of S&W and will continue to do so, with as many "+" experiences I have had I would even give them a mulligan once or twice with me they have earned it.
