I have a M19-9 that the firing pin fell out. It looks like it came out the back of the frame. Question 1. Is this a common occurrence? Question 2. I plan on sending it to S&W for repair. Is it worth having the Master Revolver or Combat Revolver package done while they have it?

A little back ground. I carry this revolver while hiking for 4 legged issues.

If you were to have them do a gunsmithing package would you go for Master or Combat?

Thanks.

I don't think that is a common occurrence. Heard of the old hammer mounted firing pins breaking, but never the pin in the frame falling out. But anything mechanical can break. As far as the action packages, if the Combat job has a somewhat stronger trigger pull, I would go for that because you stated the gun is carried for self defense. I don't know, but the Master package might have a lighter pull. Good luck.
