Well, they are shiney, they look nice, and it says S&W on the little round thingy at the top. If you can find them without the little round thingy, they are much less expensive.......

Well Jimmy it's like this, All the grip harvesters got together and hoarded all those pieces of wood.

Then they got together and decided to call them Stocks which raised the price some more.

You no longer are a seller of Stocks, you are a Purveyor which is even fancier and means they are minty and rare.

For the same reasons that Twinkies, '57 Chevy's, Straight Razors, shaving brushes, Smith's without the locks, Pythons, and just about ANY VINTAGE COLLECTIBLE ITEM........ they are not produced anymore and are not readily available. People tend to ignore every day items until they are not every day items any longer. Human nature I suppose.

They are available alright - You'll find hundreds of Magnas on eBay. Most are not in the best of condition and are missing screws. I've never figured out why there are no screws.

The grip Harvesters should be terminated and the grips should be left on the gun as original.
They have discovered a greedy way to make more money

I have a '57 Chevy for sale but you need to buy the engine and body and steering wheel as separate items:rolleyes:

People have been doing the same with pocket watches for several years. They sell the movement, dial and case separately to make more money. Shameful, as these time pieces will never be the same for us collectors. :(

check out where prices currently are on the wood combats
take a peek at original python grips :eek:
in the "old days" i,like many of you acquired a new revolver...first thing to do was pull those stock grips off and put those pach's on....sometimes i could go back and find the original grips....other times it got kinda pricey...

Many years ago I bought a 1950 target that looked unfired. I took the magnas off and put on targets. That was a little over 40 years ago and I still havent found those original magnas! Moved twice since then too.
