Hello, Is it safe to use the +P loads in my 15-2 ?

Absolutely.

Todays +P .38 specials are loaded to lesser pressure than they were back in the 1970's.

For example, Remington/UMC .38 130 FMJ target loads are at 800 fps vs the +P 125 gr jacketed hollow point at 945 fps. These are available at Wal Mart. A box of 100 125 SJHP's are around $34.

There is a large variety of ammo for the .38 special out there.

For target practice nothing beats the 158 lead semi wadcutter standard loading at around 775 fps.

Perfectly safe for you Model 15.

Same answer.

Although the standard barrel will heat up much faster. Give it a break to cool down if doing rapid fire drills. This advice applies to all firearms.

I carried and shot +P's out of this 1970 10-5 and so did the officer who carried it for 24 years. It works just fine.
