A friend of mine just aquired a NIB 2 inch Model 15-4, with all the paper work, tools in seal plastic bag. orginial purchase receipt, Etc..

SCSW dates this as a DOB of 1975. Serial number is 8K5XXXX.

I am looking for some information on this model for him.

Like how many were made, value, desirability, rarity ETC.

This is the only one I have seen in a very very long time.

I don't know how many were made but they are well thought of around here. Have read others say their's shoot like a longer barrel gun. I have a M15-3 that I got from a member and love it. As for value I think you're looking in the $500 range for a NIB with all the goodies, maybe a little more. Location can play a part in this.
Because I think all threads should have a picture, here's one of mine with some modified target grips and a holster I made for it.

I don't know how many were made, they don't surface much in MN so the value might be high here. $450-$500+
Desirability: Yes
Rarity: Yes
My 15-4 has a TT & TH, says so on the box in ballpoint. I didn't buy it new so who knows?

I've had mine since 1985 and traded a 6" Model 19 for it. 25 years ago this was a state of the art carry piece. Mine is not a P&R but you dont see them very often so I'm posting it here. This one shoots very well and the adj sights help dial it it with ammo it likes. Although not my first S&W revolver, I really devolped my shooting skills with this little gun and it was my only handgun for many years. It has traveled many miles of back country and inner city with me and shows some honest wear. BTW, the previous owner had a local gunsmith covert it to RB which was pretty trick back in the day.
