Hi all,

Here are the before & after shots of my S&W 1917 45ACP DA. Thanks to the folks at TJ's Gunsmithing in Aurora,CO. for doing an excellent job polishing this piece and hand filing it to prepare for Bluing. They could have "rushed" it through to have it back to me sooner. But, they waited until they could devote ample time in the preparation process.

The "Flaming Bombs" are intact as well as the writing on the sides & top of the barrel. It may not be Factory but all #'s match and it is stamped U.S. Property. Also, thanks to SASABERANGER for the 45 Auto Rim Brass.

Nice rescue,,,I like those shooters that people fix up and make better....Personally I think it looks awsome the bluing was done very well you can even see your reflection in the sideplate...

Sandy

Not to be too iqusitive, but......... what did the job cost?

Thanks ....panama & a 45 Colt is one of my favorites.

m-1911....I gave them a ceiling of $250.00. It would have been a lot less if I had them sandblast it and then reblue. However, I wanted a Deep Blue and that is what I got. The hand filing work took them a while but you can see the results.

Also, I did not tell them that I was a SWCA member because I wanted an " honest job". If you want their contact information, just let me know.

Regards,
Sandy

Thanks....DeaconKC

Steve,

Bring some ammo and she is yours to shoot.

Best,
Sandy

Sandy:

What a travesty to reblue that old 1917 ! It turned out like crap ! Terrible polish ! I cannot even tell the brand of your digital camera in the sideplate reflection !

I have emailed you my mailing address and a copy of my C&R. Please send it here to California right away and I will help unload that turkey for you !

Those old work horses look good in their work cloths but they REALLY look good dressed up.. Great job and a great piece.. TIN..

Hi all,

I appreciate all of the warm words and Jerry, I really appreciate your willingness to help me get rid of this slug. I can drive to L.A and divest you of a few of your "throwaway" 38/44's!
(LOL)

Keithpip,

Come on out, the weather was 85 degrees today and 125 mile visibility!

Hi all,

It was a very successful day at the range with the 1917 DA 45. Fortunately, I had a couple of Auto Rim boxes of 230 ball loaded.

She shoots wery well and at point of aim. The stock grips are way too small so, I will dig out some Magna with a Tyler T or a set of Diamond Hogues. All in all, a nice shooter.

Gentlemen, this really is a neat rig. Sandy generously let me put some rounds through it earlier this evening. (Thanks again, Sandy!)

The gun looks better in person than the photos indicate, and its action is quite nice. I agree about the stocks, though--bigger grips would make it easier to shoot up to the gun's potential. I held about "minute of Hun" with those little service stocks, and I know the gun can do better than that.

Hope this helps, and Semper Fi.
