I have an opportunity to purchase a NIB SW model 24-3 Lew Horton. Gun comes with box, cleaning kit and Guns & Ammo magazine from 1985 with the review and picture of the gun on the cover. I was initially thinking about buying this gun to shoot but my guess is there is value in collecting this particular revolver. Anyone have a guess on it's value? I really don't want a collectible piece so I am a bit on the fence about the purchase.

Been discussing the same revolver with a collector friend because he has found a matching 624 and we have been researching the value of the LH 24 and the 624. Looks like the going price is in the 1200 range from what we have found for the Lew Horton and $1000-1200 for the S&W 624

Thanks. Interestingly enough, he has a used 624 as well. I wasn't even in the market for a 44 but you get that revolver in your hand and it's so tempting to buy. He is asking 1500 for the LH and 1075 for the 624.

That's steep for the 24-3 3" Lew Horton, Even in my neck of the woods (California).

I have two 24-3 3", one is my hunting back up gun in Black Bear, Mountain Lion, Boar and Tweaker country. Action job done by Apex Tactical. She is a dream to shoot, and deadly accurate, Surprisingly accurate for a 3" barrel.

I keep it loaded with Extreme Penetrator Underwood .44special ammo.

My other 24-3 3" is a safe queen.

$1,200-$1,300 would be a fair market price IMO for a 24-3 3" Lew Horton.

Best of luck! See if you can talk them down, they are one of my favorite Smiths. .44Special is my favorite caliber to shoot!
