Can someone refresh my memory on
Models 27-2 3.5 inch Austin P.D. Smiths.

IIRC seems there were some maybe 38/44's
Marked Austin PD.
The 27's late 1970's issued by Austin PD in the late 70's...?
3.5 inch in nickel.

Thanks in advance...

Have one spotted.

I had a conversation with Ranger Ray Martinez at the Tulsa Gun Show. He was with Austin PD when he encountered Whitman , the UT sniper. He said the revolver he used was a 38/44 APD issue. I asked if he knew where it was and he said nobody really cared about stuff like that , then.

This APD HD belonged to my old gun show partner. He brought it in one day and I tried to get him to sell it to me. No dice, but I did take a picture of it. Bobbie is no longer with us and I don't know what became of the gun. The APD sure liked nickel guns.

Sounds like you got a great deal on that nickel 27-2 with 3-1/2" bbl.! I think $1800 would be a fair price for a standard blued 27-2 shorty in nice condition, but a great price for a nickel model with LEO provenance. Congratulations!
