I have a chance to buy a 1958 "S" prefix S&W model 29. Target hammer and trigger with nice original bluing and coke grips. It is a 4" barrel but no box or papers. It has a slight turn line and the faintest of muzzle wear on the end that frankly would not even probably show in a photo. Timing and lock up are solid and it appears to have been shot very little. Any thoughts as to the value? He was asking $1800 but offered it to me for $1500 due to needing the money if I buy it this weekend. Thanks for any input.

Well, you just got your answer from one of the,if not THE,foremost collector of .44 Magnums on the planet! :) Now go get it already.

I purchased one at the Birmingham Gun Show last weekend. It was also a 4", correct grips, 99%, in a presentation box for a 6 1/2 gave $1500 for it just before the show opened. It had just been put on the table as I was walking by and i'm still excited to own it.

The only thing throwing me off a bit is the lettering on the side of the frame and barrel appears to have a whiteish / ivory tint to it. I don't know if it came that way or was somehow highlighted by someone in the past. It is definitely not recent and it is very faint.
