S&W Model 58 Value

Unless you have a S&W letter stating that it came with TS, TT, and TH, it most likely didn't come that way from the factory. Probably upgraded by someone who liked the gun, so those parts add nothing of value to the overall value. The original hammer is a rarity to find these days but the trigger can be found. The original style stocks are probably worth more than the TS that are on it. One important aspect of value will be whether it is a S prefix serial or a N prefix. S is worth more as an earlier gun. Overall the way yours looks with the probability that it is not original that way...value around $800 - $850 if it's an S prefix. That's my best guess and I suspect it may be a shade high.

Have to agree with the above poster. That said, last year there was a gun posted here that had TT & TH and was still in the original correctly marked box.

A good N prefix will bring $800+ and add $100-150 for a S prefix...

My guess is that they are add-ons as whoever put the grips on opened up the football to better facilitate ejection and the use of a speedloader..

It is an N, 54xxx. I never even noticed the football being opened, it is perfectly done.

Nice looking 58, I would love to do something similar changing out to tt, th and target stocks to make my 58 a more comfortable all around gun

I have an original N model 58 with the correct trigger , hammer and grips . I got mine on gunbroker about 3yrs ago for $700 , excellent blued condition . I had a shoulder holster rig custom made for it , I'm a lefty . It is my concealed carry item (under a jacket ) in cold weather . As you might surmise , it is a keeper .
A couple of retired LEO's on this site posted loads using Unique , Herco or 2400 powder they used in their 58's " in the day " . Thx fellas

I picked up my S SN for right near 600, but it was a blued one that got chromed by someone and had a lot more wear. I would offer him 700 for it, but would be willing to pay asking price.

I been noticing the newer S&W magnum N frame revolvers with the loc, used going for much higher lately. Starting around $1,200. Seeing this trend the older n frames are a buy at $1,000 and under.
