Been looking at both of these revolvers and was wondering which one you all would choose. What are the pros and cons for those who own them. Include pics if you can. I've heard one criticism of the model 60 is that the forcing cone is rather thin.

There is nothing wrong with the forcing cone on a 60, it's the same as on any other magnum J and will withstand a lifetime of use. As for which one, they are pretty much on opposite ends of the spectrum. The 60 has an exposed hammer, the K6S is DAO. That's the main choice you have to make. The Kimber gives you an extra round, but it's at least a few hundred dollars or more, more expensive than the 60 depending on which version you get. I like hammers so I would choose the 60 all day personally, but they are both good weapons.

I was right there where you are 2 months ago. I found a used model 60 that was only 2 years old and in immaculate condition for $450 so that kind of made the decision for me. I don't regret my decision at all.

I chose a model 60. The S&W is proven 100% reliable for carry purposes. It has one less round but is lighter, thinner has a hammer functions in SA or DA and is easier to carry. Oh, did I mention it’s a S&W?

I have a number of steel J-frames and a Kimber K6s. Get your hands on both and your instinct will tell you which to bring home. A few dollars should not be your determining factor if you intend to keep your gun for a few years.
I will say since I bought my K6s I have not feel the need to carry or even shoot any of my remaining steel frames.

I've got a S&W 640 Pro, which is a closer comparison to a Kimber K6S, with overlapping street/Gunbroker prices (depending on the K6S model, of which there are now several).

Both have the enclosed/hidden hammer; both have stainless steel frames.

The Model 640 Pro might be compared to a new Model 60 with the same size .357/.38 frame size. The Model 640 Pro does have some extra features which one can read about here:
Performance Center(R) Pro Series(R) Model 640 | Smith & Wesson

I bought my 640 Pro prior to the Kimber K6S existing. Perhaps, if both were available at the same time, I'd also have a hard time deciding between those two. What would sway me toward the S&W 640 Pro is:

-the model has been on the market for whatever time longer than the Kimber K6S.
-to me, the Kimber K6S is still unproven, as I've not read of anyone even putting 1,000 rounds through one, if not more.
-I've got 4,400 rounds through my 640 Pro and I'm very happy with this revolver. I have read of one fellow with some amount of problems with his, but don't remember if it was in this forum or somewhere else.
-I've had three Kimber 1911 handguns and each had a small problem, sometimes needing to go back or getting it repaired elsewhere. Understood, a 1911 is a completely different platform, however, that's Kimber's main product-line. I've got no history as to what might need work on a K6S and how Kimber will handle such a situation.
-five vs. six rounds is not a big deal to me, but then again, I usually carry one of my double-stack Glocks with 10+1 to 17+1 total ammo capacities.

If the OP really wants an exposed, cockable, smaller .357/.38, then the Kimber K6S is not comparable.

I have a couple Model 60s and 2" and 3" Kimbers. All are excellent. Lay hands on both and go with what feels right for you.

I was an early supporter of the Kimber. I think that Kimber "hit it out of the park" with this revolver. Fit and finish is excellent. Trigger pull is smooth. It fully indexes about 50% through the pull so staging shots is easy in DAO. Extra round is nice. That said, I usually carry the 60 because its a bit lighter / smaller. If I'm good with 6 rounds, I'm good with 5 rounds.

Tossed in a Colt Cobra because it has similar characteristics.

My 640Pro and K6s both have well over 1000 rounds fired. No trouble with either although my 640Pro was returned to S&W for pitting in the flutes on the barrel.
Both are great choices I shoot both equally well but for me the Kimbers extra round in the same sized gun wins every time.
