I've a .32 caliber hammerless revolver with model number 632 engraved in the frame. It also has the number 032 printed (it appears to be laser engraving/etching in "white") over the original 632 engraving/stamping. Is this common? Both numbers appear to be factory created. What could have caused/created this situation?

It's supposed to be a (cosmetically imperfect) blued version of the 632 produced in 1992. It is apparently not unusual to find the 632 stamping on the Model 032's. See page 241 of SCSW, 4th Edition.
