S&W PC 3rd Gen vs CZ Shadow 2

Well they did a short run , Ive heard 50-60 5" 5906 DPA guns . Third down on the left. Added Novak Competition sight at the time for a better sight picture. Replaced it with originals now that I dont shoot it any more. They are stupid fun to shoot.

Wow, lovely collection. Why don't you shoot them anymore?

My son and I hit the range last week, so I figured I'd give you fine folks a range report. We took the Shadow 2, 5906TSW, CS9, 686, Colt Cobra, M&P 2.0 compact, and my late grandpa's High Standard .22lr Supermatic pistol. Also took my late great uncle's Marlin model 60 .22 rifle and my new Mossberg Maverick 88. I haven't been to the range in a few months and it was great, plus I love shooting with my son, especially when we bring heirlooms.

The CZ shot like a pro, getting great hits from 5 to 25 yards. The fiber optic front sight is very clear and precise. Trigger was great. Couldn't be happier.

5906TSW has a bit of a sight problem, I guess Trijicon put the sights back a little off when they relamped the factory night sights because it was hitting a few inches left at 7 yards. I'll have to adjust the rear a touch. Might order a laser bore sight device to help me get close.

CS9 was centered but low at 7 yards. It also has factory night sights so I'm not sure how to fix that. I guess I could replace the rear with an adjustable or try and get a shorter front from Novak maybe? I don't really shoot it enough to want to spend big money on the sights. I guess I can always just aim higher, although that's lame.

Revolvers - I'm not a great revolver shot. My son was nailing bullseyes with the 686, but we're both kinda sketchy with the little Cobra and it's fixed rear sight.

The High Standard was really fun to shoot and very accurate. It must have a 2 lbs trigger pull. Shot well for me, but had feeding problems for my son. I don't think he was getting the magazine to seat properly. Still, it was great letting my boy shoot his great grandfather's pistol from I believe 1961. I may want to find some replacement magazine springs just in case though.

M&P shot really well. I replaced the stock sights with TFX Pros, and I swapped out the factory trigger for an Apex flat trigger. It was remarkably accurate for such a small gun.

The Marlin was a little disappointing. I didn't really like the sights, and I had a bit of trouble with the magazine tube becoming disengaged. Not sure if I made a mistake on not seating it right or if it's a hardware problem. I have a Papoose with a cheap red dot on it that is much more fun. Maybe if I toss an optic on the Model 60 and straighten out the mag tube issue it would be more enjoyable.

Maverick 88 - this was my first time shooting a shotgun. It's an adjustment. The recoil was a lot and I wasn't really used to it. Wasn't really used to the bead sights either, and I was kinda high and left at 20 yards. This was a me thing, not a gun thing, and I definitely need to practice more if I'm gonna get good.

I'm sure if we brought one or two guns we could have really focused on getting better groups and working out the kinks, but sometimes it's just more fun to bring an arsenal and kill a bunch of paper!

I am just a target shooter who back in 1980 had a S&W 52 WC. It was the most accurate gun I ever owned. Today my most accurate gun a CZ shadow2 optic ready. Plastic I have but not for target shooting.

The CZ P-09, purchased one about 5 years ago, disassembled it and did the suggested polishing of internals and put some Cajun Gun Works love in it. I also sent out the slide to Primary Machines, they milled the slide for a Vortex Viper and cerecoted it titanium.
The trigger is now a 4.2# DA
2.8# SA. Very smooth and a great Target gun. This is now my EDC.
