S&W Performance Center 6.5 Creedmoor

I sold my m&p 10 because I really wanted to swap the barrel to 6.5 and that wasn't a option. That 6.5 setup looks perfect, but it seems to be impossible to find?

If this follows the pricing of the 308 version, a MSRP of $2k would mean an actual retail of about $1600 if the supply proves plentiful.

All I want is just the complete barreled upper. I dig my M&P10.

Anything to gain?

Considering the cost is there anything to gain over a M+P 10
I am very happy with my 10

Patiently waiting for S&W to offer other calibers in the MP10. If they can do it for the 6.5 Creedmoor, you would think it would be even easier to offer .243 Win, .260 Rem, 7mm-08 Rem, and the one I am really waiting for, the .338 Fed.
The 6.5 offering gives me hope.

Will the 6.5 CM upper be compatible with the M&P 10 Lower offered with the 7.62? This might be a stupid question. However, I am considering selling my 10 and purchasing a savage MSR 6.5 ( My 10 is currently listed on a couple of forums) or converting my 10 to 6.5 barrel and bolt. If the 6.5 upper is going to fit my current lower I may just hold tight.

There's little chance they will sell the upper separately, they never have the M&P 15. Hell I called both S&W and Troy yesterday trying to buy the free float tube and neither will sell that. I love my M&P but hat not being able to buy accessories.

email to performance center regarding purchase of upper from smith and wesson. Response:

Dear Customer,

We are not selling the upper by itself at this time. You may be able to find it after market.

Regards, Rachel

Not sure what inferences, if any, one can draw regarding the after market comment. Perhaps some hope????
