I bought a nice four-screw M-14 today with a gold box.

In the box was a screwdriver I am not familiar with. Please take a look at the photo and tell me if this the correct screwdriver for this Target Masterpiece (s/n k 413020) The gun is a NUMBERED revolver...

Standard catalog says that one should be for a gun in the 1940-48 period. Also states that most are seen with post-war guns but look to be designed for the pre-war target sights.

Sight adjustment tools like yours, with aluminium (you would say aluminum) handles were provided ca. 1956-1960.

Similar tools with nickel plated steel handles were provided ca. 1940-1948.

My K-22 4-screw serial 335,xxx came to me ANIB and believed to be from the original owners family. It came with the same rod, .22 brush and .22 mop as yours, all in a tall thin wax paper envelope. The screwdriver on mine is an 8 ring knurled aluminum model.

Hey Bob, I have not seen you here for awhile. Was wondering where you were or I had just missed your comments. I guess you were at the MVCA show today. I went yesterday, but didn't buy anything but a mislabled pair of Herrett grips.

Actually, the part that says K 22 is a smaller type and is below where it states the model type of the box. I believe that if the OP moves the material on the box top, the photo will reveal that this is a box for a K 32 or K 38.

Underneath the heading those boxes state " Companion for the K XX and the K XX as the case may be. Since the K 22 comment is on the second line, I believe this to be a K 38 box.

Richard,
I may have looked at those grips! I bought several and sold several. A lightly attended show IMHO

We still need to shoot!

The box's number (on bottom) does not match the gun's sn..., but I was hoping the tools were correct....I guess I may just need to see if my buddy wants to put them up on flea-bay for me...no use worrying about it now. The gun is sure nice!! Glad the box & tools were in the deal...might be able to improve my position in this Tgt. Masterpiece.

Nice "package"........ keep the SAT, and the aluminum rod, the papers, swab and brush should go (stay with the box), and I'm ceertain someone would want or swap you the 'correct' blue, two piece box, two line address with the solid silver line on the lid.....your gold, blue box is worth a LOT more than the later "model 14 " one..you Sir, are in the drivers seat;)
