Any comments good or bad on the S&W 12 gauge Model 916a stainless. I have had the shotgun for 30+ years and know little about the gun that has been sitting in the gun cabinet. I became interested after little research and found negative feed back about the series. This model is more oriented for hunting not police or self protection with a 30" full choke. Thanks, AG

I too have this "special" 916a , it may look like s/s but is actually a "nickel" plated finish, and most have a gold colored trigger.
these were made at the end of this shotguns manufacturing run.
Mine is the riot model with extended magazine.
They are a very basic shotgun, not the best quality, but they worked and were cheap to buy, and most folks would never shoot them enough to know or care about their longevity.
I have seen them sold in as new condition to NIB for from $250. to $350 over the last couple of years.

I also have one nib I only bought it because I have a blue version that I use for deer hunting. Any idea were to do a serial no look up?
