There is an ad in my local paper for one of these. I'm a revolver kind of guy. Don't own any semi auto's. I've heard of Walthers and know S&W makes semi auto's but did not know they made any Walther style semi's. Anybody know anything about these, and what they are worth?

Is it a S&W99??

The frame was made by Walther, and when shipped to S&W, they placed the slide/barrel on it.

If so, these wre made in 9mm, 40 cal and 45 cal, and theny also made compact models in the 9 and 40.

They were the first ones to have the interchangeable backstrap, depending on how big your hand is.

I have three, full size and compact 40, and full size 45. Carry compact 40 on a daily basis.

I think they are a great weapon. Never had any problems with them.

S&W made the uppers for Walther made frames, and it was called the SW99 or SW990 or SW990L, depending on action. S&W also manufactures the Walther PPK, PPK/s and perhaps other stuff for Walther.

The Walther R99 revolver was just a "badge engineered" S&W Model 66 marked with the Walther banner and logo, with an interesting revolver grip with interchangeable backstaps.

S&W is also the exclusive importer for Walther products. Imported Walthers often have S&W markings.

My SW99c has a Walther banner on it...I thought that was interesting.

Walther made the SW99 frames. The upper is S&W. There are also a few minor tweaks to the S&W mags which I believe Walther also adopted. Otherwise, it's very much like the Walther P99.
