Its that time again. I own one of these and have never been able to find any real info about it. Walther doesn't acknowledge them at all. S&W barely says they exist and treat it like a red-headed step child. There are two paragraphs in SCSW about them. S&W says all the records on these guns are now in storage and unavailable. :(
So, every couple of years I post about it hoping someone might be able to shed some light on it.
I have a S&W PPK/S-1 in .32 acp caliber. I have the original box and paperwork. I know it was made between 1999 & 2004. It has had the recall done on it.
Does anybody know?:
How many were made?
How many in .32acp?
How scarce is the .32 version?
Current value?

Who knew. Great acquisition! Probably the only PPK I'd buy (I prefer the PP size and never a PPK in .380).

Where/how did you acquire it. And what was the tariff? How does it shoot? Tell us more.

Am anxious to hear from folks here about it. Hope there's a ton of replies.

I had one and sold it to a friend for his wife to carry. I was happy with the little I fired it and wish I still had it. Much better with FMJ ammo and recoil was light. I wish Walther USA would make a run of them and I would buy one.

Bersa would be a good choice, if only they made one. They are quality firearms at their price point. Much better than FEG.

I bought it 6 years ago from a local Armslist add. I gave $475 for it. Shoots great! The .32 acp is a real sweetheart. :D
I really wish I could tell you more. Every time I try to research it I hit a brick wall. S&W ain't talking and nobody seems to know much at all. :( That's why I posted this.

I am aware of these "S&W" made Walther models but know too little to answer your questions with anything helpful. I too always thought of them as a short term relationship.

On the bright side Walther will repair the S&W guns. As some may remember S&W had a recall on their guns for an issue with the safety. S&W quickly gained a bad reputation for taking months in getting it done and leaving scratches and tool marks on the guns when returned. Lots of customers were very upset about this.
When I bought my PPK/S-1 I found it needed the recall done. I contacted Walther in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. They not only did the recall with no problems at all, but they had the gun back to me in eight days. Walther has some of the best customer service in the industry. :D

The PPK/s has always seemed to me to be a very large gun for .32 ACP. Same with the Beretta Tomcat. I prefer Seecamps and NAA Guardians for .32 ACP.
I do own a S&W PPK/s in .380 ACP. It has been a difficult gun to love. It has gone back to S&W for the recall. It has been to my local, well known and respected pistol smith, and it has also recently been to Walther to try and get it to run right.
It has very sharp edges on the backstrap and beavertail. Combined with a sharp recoil it is a very unpleasant gun to shoot . I took to only shooting it while wearing a leather glove. The springs seem out of wack and I cannot find the right combination. I'm hoping the fix is as simple as a carry melt treatment to get rid of the sharp edges and eliminate the pain in shooting the gun.
I have just sent it off to Cylinder & Slide to see if they can work some magic on it.
Best of luck with your PPK/s.
