I bought a new 442 PC online. The cylinder wasn't machined correctly and when using loaded moon clips the cylinder won't shut. It shuts ok when loaded without using moon clips. Any idea on S&W's turnaround time on warranty repairs. Sucks having to send a brand new gun back for work...

I bought a 642-1 PC gun and it's been back to the factory three times, and I still haven't shot it. My experience has been the turnaround times have varied from a couple of months to a few weeks. It's the last new S&W I'll ever buy.

I don’t know since they opened a new plant. Last time I had to send a gun back turn around was less than two weeks. But I do remember them warning me about a two-week vacation shutdown and how that would seriously impact times. I think it was in May…maybe??

I didn’t know they made a moon clip model J-Frame. Learned something new today. :)

Turn around time is about a week or two the first time. About the same for subsequent returns until you finally get it fixed.

I've sent two back recently, one a recall and the other for warranty work. Both took about two weeks, and both were different - one rifle and one hand gun - so I would guess a couple weeks to be a fair estimate.

My wife sent her Victory back for the second time for the same problem. Got it back in just under 3 weeks.

She sent it out with the rail attached on the top of the barrels. Note that rail came with the gun. They took off the rail and for some reason never returned the rail or the holding screw.

Called and they said we will send them out in today's shipments. Well they got 1/2 of it right, sent a rail and Allan wrench but no holding screw. Heck I bet I have at least 10 wrenches of that size!-:D

Hey its wife's gun, I believe she will be calling about that today!

It is a crying shame that a Company such as S&W has had the WORST QC and customer service & turn-around time of any gun company I am aware of! It just shouldn't be!!

My buddy sent his 929 in because the trigger stud broke and it was 6 month wait total.
They had it for a couple months and when they opened the box they found out it was a Performance Center gun and said it had to be sent to the PC and the wait started all over.

It’s especially pitiful when a few years ago, Smith & Wesson Repair and Customer Service was the gold standard by which all others were measured. That certainly isn’t true now.

I have been hoping that now that we have them in the great state of Tennessee, they would be able to get their act together; we shall see.
