Went to many-many table show near Cincinnati yesterday. Some of you here must be members of OGCA..???? I have never shopped S&W at this event in the 40plus yrs I have been a member. I couldnt believe how many were there!!!!
Table rows of about 30 each run from A to EE, I did get to Row O, no further. My shopping was for M-57, early, & to see Joe C., the wooden box refurbish box guy. He showed me a correct early box for one. There was a 4" 58 nearby, but I just couldnt get into that one, I guess because it is not a correct gun for a wooden display box. I was told there was a boxed nickle gun further down the show, but I got involved in a Luger deal that took over an hour so I didnt make that end of the show hall.
I did get a very rare Luger (1906 French), Luger drum, odd holster, Portugese tools, 1900 Swiss magazine, two S&W screwdrivers (I need a 7 1/4" S&W rod), a Browning ATD rifle in .22, Grade 2 (now have all grades) & a Winchester 101 trap gun (in disguise) for Donna. Will have to shorten the 14" pull to her 12 1/2", this gun was inexpensive enuff to justify that & the very best aspects of it were no screw in chokes & has a wide rib. Also a contact for NOS S&W parts.
I will have to go to the March show with a little more focused attention toward getting a 57. Not shopping Intnet due to FFL requirements, bad enuff to have to go through the MG paperwork every time without adding another nuisance, looking at another MG 08 today.
