A pleasantly cool 47° at the moment, with gorgeous blue skies mixed with sunshine. What a great day to gather and worship!

We are supposed to meet at my niece's place this afternoon and celebrate my Sister's 90th birthday. She is a precious Lady, but her health is not as good as it once was. She, Betty, and our deceased sister Mary, used to care for us little kids during WWII while our Mom and Dad worked at BRECON supporting our troops.

Someone on another forum mentioned poison oak/ivy and how nasty it is. I have a friend, (who shall remain nameless to protect the guilty), that proved how dumb we can be. He told me this story himself so I must assume it's true. I'll call him Sam.

Sam and his group of friends were told not to get into the poison oak because of how bad it was. Sam, being the group tough guy, (spoiled brat), was gonna prove how tough he was. So, he rubbed the poison oak leaves all over himself, even ate some of it. It like to have killed him. He survived and grew up to be a banjo player. Not sure if there is a connection, but the question is always there. :-)

Just heard from my friend in North Texas, and I'm happy to report that it's 45 degrees and he and the family are doing well. They are out of the house for the first time in 8 days and never lost power or water, and no frozen pipes. They are truly blessed.

Lots of family birthdays coming up in March, so it will be filled with lots of "Happy Birthdays" and even more melancholy days filled with Precious Memories. Have you ever wondered what life would be like if you had been born into a different family, even a different family or race? I have, and it's scary, but it makes me realize how blessed I have been.

Have a blessed Sabbath, tell someone you love them.

Leon

We had a good walk this morning. This was the warmest morning in quite a while. Yesterday morn there was ice on the pond.

We saw a lot of rain this past week. We did make it to the gun range one afternoon with the Anchutz, but it was cold. The new 36 power scope with the 6oz. trigger is taking some getting use to. I'm used to service rifles. There was a guy banging away with his .223, so we didn't stay long. It gets loud under the covered benches.

Thinking of grilling pork chops tonite. The weather should be ideal.

Counting our blessings this Sabbath. God is good!

Another snowy day up here in NW Iowa, but not last weekend's bone-chilling cold. A pretty snow, big fluffy flakes, but I'll still stay in until it quits and roads are cleared.
Earlier I was thinking of my long gone Mother as I was putting chicken on to simmer for chicken & biscuits, looked out the door and saw a Cardinal. I've been feeding the birds all winter but he was the first Cardinal that I've seen.

A wonderful 45 degrees here. The ice is gone. The clean up continues. Happy Sunday to all.

Thanks again for your very helpful Sunday words Leon.

We got a few inches of wet snow last night, the sun's out and everything is fine here.

We're appalled by the catastrophe our fellows have experienced in Texas and the rest of the South!

well... it is the warmest it has been in weeks... all the way up to freezing... and heavy snow... it is pretty... there is still hope for melting this coming week...

As always Leon a pleasure. I have often wondered how it would have been to have lived in the 1800's. I remember my Grandmother telling stories of Indians in the Landrum area of SC taking white children and then the parents finding them and sneaking into the camps at night and taking them back.

Anyway a beautiful day here . Hope everyone has a good week. Stay safe and healthy.

I enjoy your ramblings Leon. Keep em' coming.
I often wonder about what being born in a different time would be like.
The slightest change in any aspect of our lives would probably result in major changes later.
Makes me realize that life is what you make it.

Today was a quiet day at home. Yesterday was the day of going out to the York gun show and the nearby VFW to go out and do something I enjoy and to let people I know see me and know that I'm OK.

A dear lady I know from SW Texas sent me an email to let me know that things were getting better down there. I was concerned about her so I was glad to get the email from her.

I hope everybody had a good day and that it becomes the start of a good week.

Yesterday was my 78th birthday! I never expected to live to be so old. The weather has warmed up so we are seeing temperatures in single digits with POSITIVE numbers - not like the NEGATIVE numbers with double digits numbers we have been having! However, it did snow several inches yesterday.
