Ole Joe Clark
Absent Comrade
A pleasantly cool 47° at the moment, with gorgeous blue skies mixed with sunshine. What a great day to gather and worship!
We are supposed to meet at my niece's place this afternoon and celebrate my Sister's 90th birthday. She is a precious Lady, but her health is not as good as it once was. She, Betty, and our deceased sister Mary, used to care for us little kids during WWII while our Mom and Dad worked at BRECON supporting our troops.
Someone on another forum mentioned poison oak/ivy and how nasty it is. I have a friend, (who shall remain nameless to protect the guilty), that proved how dumb we can be. He told me this story himself so I must assume it's true. I'll call him Sam.
Sam and his group of friends were told not to get into the poison oak because of how bad it was. Sam, being the group tough guy, (spoiled brat), was gonna prove how tough he was. So, he rubbed the poison oak leaves all over himself, even ate some of it. It like to have killed him. He survived and grew up to be a banjo player. Not sure if there is a connection, but the question is always there.
Just heard from my friend in North Texas, and I'm happy to report that it's 45 degrees and he and the family are doing well. They are out of the house for the first time in 8 days and never lost power or water, and no frozen pipes. They are truly blessed.
Lots of family birthdays coming up in March, so it will be filled with lots of "Happy Birthdays" and even more melancholy days filled with Precious Memories. Have you ever wondered what life would be like if you had been born into a different family, even a different family or race? I have, and it's scary, but it makes me realize how blessed I have been.
Have a blessed Sabbath, tell someone you love them.
Leon
