Nice work!

Ive used saddle scabbards in my trucks for years. Had one behind the seat in both the F250 4x and the Nissan 4x extra cab, attached to the front of the dog platform in each. Its most recently been in the back of the 4Runner under the new version of the dog platform.

Thanks! I was thinking this will probably find it’s way into my truck.

I read the opening post here and was wondering how you were going to make the horse. You can maybe make a saddle with a lot of effort and make it look a little like a seat. Makin' the horse might run afowl of some laws on animal husbandry. It'd be easier to just go buy one. Same for the saddle.

But now you've got the proper scabbord. In all truth, it might be the hardest of the 3 for you to buy.

Here I thought I was done when I bought the leg-0-muttion shotgun case made by H H Heiser. Thanks to some help here on the forum, I got my Heiser rife sling. Not really beautiful like the shown scabbord, but as good as any I tend to see in my wondering. Just something else I need to consider in my travels. I passed on the saddle a few years back due to objections from my wife. She wanted to know how I was going to get it home in my jeep filled with 2 weeks of clothes and gear.

Very Nice----guessing this is not your first rodeo with leather.

Thanks! I started making holsters and a few other things a few years ago as a hobby. I hadn’t done any leatherwork for about 2 yrs. while we moved to a new house and settled in. . Finally got my tools unpacked tried my hand at it.

Looking at that scabbard makes me want a horse. And a saddle. Maybe I should just settle for a holster. That's a really nice looking scabbard. I'm curious. Do you make a drawing of the carvings before you start or do you just go free hand carving.

Beautiful work you've done. Love the finish.

Now I'm reminded that I want a flapped one to bring my 92 to the range in. Every time I transport that lever gun in a modern plastic or nylon case, it feels wrong. :(

Thanks. The carving pattern is drawn on tracing film and traced onto the leather using a stylus. The sides are mirror images. I wish I had the talent to free hand that!

I don't have a horse either, but I do have a lever action rifle.

Please forgive my lack of horse sense, but how does the straps attach to the saddle? Is there a cut-out?

In open country it was OK to have the rifle butt forward, but in timber it was better to have to the back so a tree din't git between you and the rifle.

You could pull it this way as you stepped off the horse.

Extremely Good work. Best Rifle Holster I believe I have ever seen anywhere. Love to have in the back window of one of my trucks.
