Please always remember to use safety goggles when reloading
And when working with powertools :o
I was in a "hurry" and couldn't find mine when i used my dremmel
to cut a empty 7.62x39 brass for checking wallthicknes.
The primer had a deep mark from the fireingpin, but was aparently
a missfire. The cuttingdisc disapared in a dust cloud
when the primer exploded.
Luckely my eyes was not hurt, the dust washed out just fine.

(This time)

I think i'm going to chain the goggels to the bench so i can find them next time.

Please be safe out there.

I can honestly say I always use safety glasses while reloading but thanks for the reminder anyway! I'm glad you weren't harmed...

Glad you are OK!

I always wear them. Reloading, power tools, WEED WHACKING the yard.

How about when you clean guns and use a aerosol cleaner???

I didn't one time and it backed up and blasted me in the eye. Man that stung for hours!

Ever watch Norm Abrams and "The New Yankee Workshop"?:)

"Before we use any power tools, let's take a moment to talk about shop safety. Be sure to read, understand, and follow all the safety rules that come with your power tools. Knowing how to use your power tools properly will greatly reduce the risk of personal injury. And remember this: there is no more important safety rule than to wear these — safety glasses." [He points at his aviator-style prescription glasses.]

Thank's, it wasn't ment to do harm this time.

When i was younger i did some metal work on my car.
Used a anglegrinder to remove rust, eyglasses and big safety glasses over them.
But one small very hot fragment searched it's way through to my eye.
Had to go to the hospital to get it out. Very painfull.

AND YET I STILL DONT USE THEM EVERY TIME.

Shame on me :o

After this, i will use them EVERYTIME.

When weed whacking the lawn one day, the string trimmer flung a small rock at the speed of a 22 LR. Hit my safety glasses smack dab in the center and cracked them. (just like a stone on a windshield) I probably would be blind in that eye. That was my "wake up call"

I have 2 sets of glasses in the garage, two in the shed(lawn equipment) and 1 pair on my reloading bench.

I always wear eye pro when using tools or shooting but I have been bad when working on my guns, ie disassembling. That changed when I launched the spring plug just above my eye brow. Those spring in our guns pack some punch.

Good practical reminder.
Having an education in chemistry and physics, wearing goggles became second nature to me when doing anything that might be an eye hazard.

I even wear them to cut up hot peppers! It reminds you not to take a swipe at your eyes..if you've done it, you know what I mean. I can't help you about remembering to wash up good after cutting hot peppers before you start fooling around with your girlfriend (or wife) though.....true story. The sudden reaction, and resultant reaction, although memorable was not conducive to 'someone' being in good graces for quite a while.

wearing the proper clothing is essential, and you should never wear loose clothing that could easily get caught in a power tool. Safety gear is crucial- hard hat, safety goggles and gloves, along with the proper footwear. Garden Tools
