Want to use up another of my dumb question allowance. Does anybody make a simple plastic plug that can be inserted in the safety lock hole on my new N-frame? Not really interested in getting one of the multi-part, disassembly-required kits, but is that my only option?

Never seen one, and there's probably a good reason for that. Go into the classifieds and order one from JD, they're the best thing going.
When you're as unhandy as I am there is NO WAY I would ever take a gun apart like that! Besides, the IL doesn't bother me much. YMMV
Just get a Zerk fitting.

If you have a local forum, post on there that you will buy lunch for the person that will install the plug for you.
It's a half hour job for a beginner watching a video for instructions.
I've installed a few for local shooters for free. It isn't that difficult so you should be able to find someone willing to help you out.
