I've got a 469 inbound that has a missing right safety and screw (fortunately it is also coming with an extra complete 669 slide assembly). I'm wondering if it is safe to run this way, and if there is an aftermarket slot filler that can be used instead of simply replacing the lever.
I've got a few other DA/SA Smith Autos, but none that I've ever needed to work on so I'm not 100% sure of parts compatibility. From what I've read, it seems like the single sided safety from the Mod 39 will work, and that's fine with me, as I don't really have a use for ambi-safeties. I've found those available both new and used, and also located a source for a right lever and screw.
One question I have though is are any of the internals from the existing safety transferable to a new 39 single sided safety, or would I also need to order those as well? I'm aware that I might need to fit a new sear release lever and will order a couple of those at the same time as any other parts.
Looking forward to this project, and getting to know the internals of these S&W's better.
