Found this in the 5 dollar bin at Walmart in Bullhead City. My daughter loves the Popeyes fro the 30s and 40s....there is hope for these kids afterall.

The Fleisher cartoons were the best. I grew up watching Popeye and the older the better. We have a box set of Betty Boops.
I guess if you've been on a ship a long time Olive Oyl might be considered attractive. But what was Bluto thinking?! And what's with spinach. It must be like viagra since all those little kids looked just like Popeye! "Uncle Popeye" my...! They were Olive's kids weren't they? If not, my apologies to her.

Im also trying to get my kids into the old (and much better) cartoons. I dvr Looney Tunes every day and watch them with the kids when i get home. Whats sad, is i think i like watching them more than the kids do! lol!
The best by far has to be Bugs Bunny. My Wife and I grew up watching him and we still quote him regularly, even though he is totally politically incorrect (gasp).
And it might not be as old (1969 and 1970) but a classic for me is Scooby Doo, Where are you? Can't beat him and those Meddling Kids. I taped all those episodes about 15 years ago and played them for my kids. Gotta raise 'em right.

i dvr'd a bugs bunny compilation off HBO a while back. all warner bros from the 40s and 50s. my 3 year thinks its awesome. a bit violent. my boy has picked up "stupid" from that movie. calls the dog stupid like daffy duck calls things stupid. other than that not very pc and i like the adult side jokes

I love the so-called "war effort" cartoons, those produced during WW2. The Japs always had glasses and buck teeth, Mussolini weighed about 400lbs and Hitler was always screaming.

Betty Boop was visually based on those two. The character's voice was first performed by Margie Hines, and was later provided by several different voice actresses including Kate Wright, Ann Rothschild (a.k.a. Little Ann Little), Bonnie Poe, and most notably, Mae Questel who began in 1931 and continued with the role until 1938.

i remember watching these in the 50's and laffing my butt off, same as the stooges, you still see the stooges with a few stereotypes, but there are no rascals because the kids were a tightly knit package line that was one complete stereotype, sip could probably expound on that fact a little more.

thanks for the info, when we were in new york i spotted a betty boop shirt for my wife, all outlined in rhinestones and hand sewn(maybe), i won't bore you with the price but let's just say it surprised me. the amount of goods in her name at all types of store is really astounding, and it's not just adults, it right through the chain from kids stuff to seniors, hey, i wonder if the oldman has a betty boop shirt, lol.
