These days I can't seem to sleep! Find myself waking up around 3am, tossing and turning for a bit, then go for a "snack". Early this morning (3:30am'ish), it was a sandwich ("Sammich") on wonderful "Artisian" bread, some honey cured ham, some brown mustard, some onion and a piece of cheese.... and a GLASS of ice cold milk!...……..and I crawled back into bed for a bit and slept like a baby!
Of course not including PB&J, what are your "must have" sandwich ingredients? For me, its got to have some mustard of some sort and certainly some onion - for the crunch if not for the taste and got to have some chilled in a glass ICE cold milk!

What say thee? …......We'll save plastic vs. glass for another thread.

I’m a dyed-in-the wool toasted/fried cheese sammich man. If I’m feeling frisky I go with a Croque Monsieur, AKA toasted cheese sammich with ham.

Livin’ large.

I don't know. It all really depends on what kind of sandwich I want. Different ingredients for different sandwiches.

Some common items...

Some people don't like it, but I like Ezekiel bread. If I don't have that, I usually go for a good whole wheat bread. I also like rye.

Mustard is probably the most common ingredient I use amongst my sandwich preferences. Either spicy brown or stone ground.

Mayo is pretty common. I'm following a plant-based diet, so I've been using Hellman's vegan mayo. Good stuff.

An assortment of veggies, depending on what kind of sandwich I'm eating and how lazy I'm feeling when I make it. Tomato and spinach are pretty common. Onions. Sometimes cucumbers. Banana peppers are good. Sometimes I'll use all the veggies and just have a veggie sandwich.

Depending on the sandwich, I sometimes like to season it a little on the spicy side. Salt, black pepper, cayenne pepper, and smoked paprika are what I typically use.

So many different combos available. Matching breads with meats and cheeses. Then vegies and extras. A big glass of milk is good but at dinner I like a beer with my Sammy. At 3-4 AM I get a banana.

Seems a bit over complicated, but I'll give you a forum brother LIKE

Ham & Swiss cheese, multigrain bread, butter. NEVER EVER mustard.
Hard boiled egg sliced onto a hamburger bun, lots of butter & salt. Again, NO mustard.

But my most common late or middle of night snack is multigrain toast with either honey or apple butter.

I will never understand why men want to take a good piece of ham, pastrami, burger or whatever and cover it with that vile stuff called mustard. There are only two places that mustard belongs, deviled eggs and potato salad and then it better be Dijon.

Ham and cheese on rye with Hellman's or miracle whip, if we have any rye...no deli Rye in Wyoming. Mustard does not compute. It is made for hot dogs only..and a good hot dog, broiled beef, split with cheddar in the cut.... lotsa onions sweet pepper relish on a decent bun...and of course the mustard. If not that hungry I'll have toast buttered with home made black raspberry jelly...home made strawberry freezer jam or homemade peach or apricot jam and a nice ice cold glass of milk. Had the apricot last night at 0 dark 30.
