I recently had my furnace thermostat **** out. Never had to mess with one before and I was dreading it. Finally just bit the bullet and ordered a replacement from Amazon. $16. Took me 10 minutes and half of that was trying to get the screws and wall anchors out of the little ziploc bag. Now I can adjust the furnace to less than 76 degrees. I was dreading it because it seems lately that everything I try to do I have problems with, and everything takes twice the time and money it should. This went so smooth I had a drink to celebrate. Cheers!

I spent the last day and half sorting out the Lazy Susan device in our kitchen that the contractors failed to reinstall properly. Working on stuff that was really designed to be installed once and left until demolition can be 'interesting'. I now fully understand the term 'reverse engineering'.

Went so well that I ordered a couple of light fixtures to replace the kitchen and dining fixtures. Might be pushing my luck but if I'm on a roll, I'm gonna ride that sucker out!

You got this! Light fixtures are easy. Just make sure to throw the breaker first otherwise you might get a surprise like I did when I was so sure I'd thrown the correct breaker. Nope! That'll get your attention.

I leaned back in one of my wife's family heirloom chairs and busted the back out of it. I felt terrible but upon examination found that chair had been repaired at least twice before. Her family was incredibly hard on fine furniture from raging drunks smashing chairs to smokers leaving burn marks on every flat surface. All fine furniture I might add. At any rate the more I looked at the damage and where we were using the chair I thought "why not make it a stool?" So I carefully sawed the back off at a nice angle, filled a hole on both sides, matched up the stain and finished it off. Best off all, she loves it and talked about how the back got in the way while she was using the desk for its intended purpose while standing where the chair was. I only use the desk for changing out my hearing aid batteries which are kept in the same desk.
