I was at another shop that had primers for sale.
Federal, & CCI, in all sizes. Still priced too high for me $7.95/100.

Got a notification from Midwayusa that LP and LR primers are available - $79 -$89 /K. Still too much for me.

That's all good news. Still too high for me as well, but it may indicate that the supply demand thing is easing.

Well, exuuuuuuuse meeeee. Just checked with Midway and none in stock again.

I went to a small FireHouse gunshow today.
Shotshell primers for sale bagged up in sandwich baggies. 100 primers each. Priced at $9/bag.
I guess they were taking the (Cheddite?) primers that are being sold in the 1000 pack 'flat trays' and splitting them up.
Those 1000e/trays were being sold at a show last weekend for $70/tray.
That's about the cheapest I've seen around. But still too much for me at this point. Easy to say of course when you have a supply on hand yet.

Powder,,$40 & $50 /per pound. Mostly IMR rifle stuff.
Some of it broken down from larger canisters like 8#, and repackaged into 1lb cans.
The 1# cans were orig, clean and correctly factory labled.
But still the powder was (rightfully) being sold as just that,,not factory sealed and as being split down from a larger cask.
No takers that I saw in my wanderings as soon as the source of the powder was revealed..

Factory sealed 4# jugs of different powders were generally in the $180 to $200 range.

I'll bet they don't come down much from the $70/1000 level. There's plenty of 22 ammo on the shelves and the price on that stuff hasn't dropped, even though the shelves are sagging with the weight of it. $40/brick is about the going price around here for plinking ammo.

Rolled the dice

I placed an order for WLP, we'll see what happens. I get that this is over priced, but I'm loading .45 Colt so it is still cheaper than buying cheap rounds at AmmoSeek and I don't want to pay the scalpers at GunBroker.

I read an article last night, the shortage is pretty much international and was following the article about the "new" plant in Texas which was pretty much a scam, so I don't hold out much for hope for prices coming down and availability going up.

Local big gun show in VA only had SPP and SRP for $110 cash OTD. If Midway can deliver, I'd rather help keep them in business.

You guys can turn your noses up at those prices because you probably have a pretty good supply of previously purchased primers.
I just purchased SPP for $89.95 /1000 and some LPP also at $89.95/1000 and quite frankly I was glad to get them . I would have purchased more if I could have . I just started reloading and will basically take what I can get at this point...within reason.
Even with the primers at that price I can still reload .45 ACP and .38 Special for about .25 cents a round using my own brass I have been saving up for years. That's less than half what I'll pay for factory ammunition. Also .38 Special ammo seems to be in short supply for some reason and rather expensive if you do find any.
Hopefully prices will come down but I'm not waiting . It would seem that prices on all things ammunition related have gone up quite a bit and I don't plan on leaving my Colt 1911 or my S & W 14-1 sitting unfired in my gun safe while I wait for prices to drop to where they were 2 -3 years ago...probably won't happen anyway .

This is refreshing. Good news about primer availability and not one post that smugly proclaimed they had stocked up (hoarded) following the last shortage and had plenty on hand for their needs. Perhaps this is the canary in the coal mine that primer availability is easing.

I was at a gunshow this weekend. One of the scalpers had primers for $20 per 100. I actually saw one guy buying some :(

I would be more than happy if primers became readily available at $75 per brick or so. Everything is more expensive now and we'll never see $30 per brick again.

Three years ago 9mm was 15 cents a round. Now it's back on the shelves but it's 30+ cents a round and I don't see any reason to think it's going much lower. The same thing is going to happen with reloading components. Actually I'm surprised powder hadn't gone up more than it has, when you can find it.

I get it. I had a decent supply of all primers except LRP's because I didn't have any gun that needed them. Then I bought a .308 rifle and quickly found that LRP's are impossible to find unless you pay high prices. So I had to buy a brick at $165 after hazmat and shipping and I was glad to get them even at that price. It's still cheaper than buying loaded ammo. If I saw a chance to buy more at the price you mentioned I'd jump on it.
