Gotta give her credit, first for being open minded enough on guns to go to a range, second, for hob-knobbing with a conservative. When's the last time that happened? The liberals must be apoplectic. (is that a word?)

Yeah, next thing you know, they'll be trying to put clay pidgeons on the endangered species list.

I thought they already were on the list!

Here in Colorado they have added prairie dogs and rattlesnakes to the "small game" category, license required, seasons, bag limits, etc.

I had doves for dinner last night, smothered with mushroom gravy, very nice indeed. Clay pigeons just don't come out the same, no matter how long I try to simmer them in the crock pot.

Speaking of apoplexy, it might make some of us that way to know that one of Justice Scalia's best friends is Ruth Bader Ginsberg, and that he doesn't like Justice Thomas at all. Never forget, Heller could have been a good deal better written and reasoned.

Goodness knows we've had our share of judges appointed by Republicans turn liberal. We're due one going the other way and maybe this is it. Even just an open mind would be better than some we've had. One can only hope.

Sorry to be nasty but I thought Colorado was too smart to enact such a retarded regulation. Pdogs are plague ridden, nuisance rodents.

I like non poisonous snakes, I have no use for rattlers. A bull snake does all the good things a rattler does w/o the danger. Don

I was temporarily distracted by the post saying CO had made Pdogs and rattlers small game and overlooked the intent of the post.

I wouldn't suggest that a simple trip to the skeet range will radically change Kagan's views but it can't hurt. It would hardly be the first time that an anti gunner has been shown that despite their negative opinion of firearms, that the shooting sports can actually be fun and that those who enjoy them can be pleasant people to associate with. Actually, that makes me happy. Because it means that both of them are open minded enough to not only listen to, but actually like someone of the polar-opposite political persuasion than themselves.

I can't do it. I can't think of one liberal friend that I might have.

And, the only shot (if you'll forgive the pun) we have at changing anyone who has or tends towards an anti-gun position is to show them shooting is fun and safe and that we are not loonies.

I have take several sorta anti-gunners to the trap range. You can see the change start when they break that first orange bird. If they break a few, they'll keep trying. Next thing you know, they are asking about buying a gun.

Still a big step from clays shooting to handguns and, God forbid, an evil assault weapon, but it's a start.

Scalia knows the right way to step across the isle. You stay true to your principles and try to impress upon others that your principles are reasonable. Heck, he even throws in some gun-evangelism. What a guy!

One of the very best ways to win over reasonable people who have never shot guns is to take them shooting with you.

Done correctly, with hearing protection, light kicking ammo, teaching our "standard" safety principles and use of accurate guns, the results can be brand new fans to the shooting sports!

I sometimes laugh when I read this stuff. I'm one of many gun owning liberals. I lean more left than right and, like most liberals, don't follow a standard manual.

Increase liberal gun interests by reducing trash talk about liberals.

I read this this forum for historical and mechanical info despite the trash talk. I would prefer a more welcoming crowd.

The liberals might consider doing some of the same.

For what it's worth, I'm not aware of any conservatives who have introduced gun control legislation. Maybe there are some; you can enlighten us all.

With that in mind, calling out liberals for trying to restrict legal gun ownership is not trash talk. It's the truth. Sorry you choose to hang with that crowd, but what's that old saying? Something about being known by the company you keep?
