Warning to all DirectTV customers. I received a call yesterday with a to good to be true offer from DirectTV. The offer was for every channel including gigapower internet for $109.00 per month. All I had to do was pay for three months in advance using an Amazon gift card. They asked me to purchase the card and call a special number to get started. This scam comes from India and is not a DirectTV offer. Basically, you buy the card and transfer the money into their account. Do not fall for it.

BTW, I do not even have DirectTV.

thanks DWalt.. it's only a matter of time before they use Dish's name too. Heck I'm worried about Michele with Credit Card Services... it's been several months since they've called. That bunch has the ability to clone/fake any telephone# that will show up on your caller ID.

Any time you are asked to pay via gift card, refuse. There is no legitimate business that will ask for payment that way.

I had one guy ask me to use Amazon coins. I had never heard of that before and I knew it was a scam, but I pressed the issue. This guy was trying to get me to pay him via these "coins" which are credits that kids can use to upgrade their video games. Interesting, but I wasn't falling for it.

I agree; I think Michelle retired after being cursed out in every language unfit to print. The latest call from card services came in labeled "wireless caller" yesterday. Grrrr!

directv IS completely useless................100+ channels of junk.....50% of the viewing is commercials; 45% is garbage drama and so called reality all for about $100 a month............

DWalt, thanks for the heads-up. This is a new twist in the game to relieve people of their hard earned money. I'm still waiting to hear back from that Nigerian attorney who is setting me up to be the recipient of the estate of a wealthy banker who died unexpectedly without a will.

I continue to ignore any call on my phone that doesn't display the name of someone whose number is already in the phone's memory.

The news this morning said there's another new scam- someone calls your phone, often with a local area code, and hangs up after one ring. You get curious and call back, which is overseas and you get a huge bill.

This one I was always curious about. The phone company charges you not the place being called so how do they get money

The last few weeks we have been getting call's from someone trying to fill a cruise ship, they ask you a question like can you hear me OK, they want you to say yes, when you do you just agreed to buy what they are selling, when she asked me if I could hear her I said, I said I can hear you, the phone went dead, I have been getting at least 3 calls like this a week, when I don't say yes that's the end of the call.
