Saw a SCCY CPX2 today at gun show. Anyone have experience with / opinion of this pistol?

I sold more than a few when I was working at a gun shop a while back, don't recall any returns or complaints.
They also got an excellent review in SGN a few month ago.
They are German made and seem to be good value for the price.

Call me stupid, but I don't have a clue what you're talking about.
Looks like alphabet soup.
Please don't take offense, its just me

I understand. My wife and I were at a gun show yesterday and came across a vendor with a 9mm made by a company called SCCY. My wife loved how it felt in her hand so I perked-up and this was when the $300 price caught my eye (too inexpensive?) followed almost immediately by the name "SCCY" on the slide. Vendor explained SCCY is fairly new to the game and produced their first pistol, the CPX1, in 2005. It, and SCCY, got really bad reviews when component parts in the gun failed, broke, whatever. Now, the gun is made entirely in-house at SCCY's factory in Florida. Problems with CPX1 have been resolved and CPX2 is now SCCY's offering.
Anyway, sorry for the mini-lesson, all I really wanted to determine was how well this 9mm was made and functions. Since my original post, I have been on YouTube where there are several reviews. The majority say the CPX2, for the price, is a good gun though I'll place more credibility on what forum members have to say.

In my neck of the woods the reviews are still mixed.

There doesn't seem to be a middle of the road, one either loves um or hates um.

The one thing both groups do agree on is the great price point, and that quality is improving.

What I have heard matches what dicra said. Avoid the first edition. I have shot the second iteration, my buddy has one, and liked it far more than I expected to. He's had it for a while now and there have been no negative reports. If I were looking for something in that category I'd probably give one a look.

Price s getting important at least to me..I love the new striker fired Ruger slim short very concealable but 450 + is a little high for a Ruger mini semi auto compared to the manual trigger models....7 shot, very slim. Diffidently a front pocket pistol....Great trigger as most striker triggers are..easy to use manual safety....

I bought a CPX2 about a year and a half ago. Seems to be a well made little pistol. On the first trip to the range the rear sight fell off (couldn't figure out why I had such bad groups until then). I thought I had lost the set screw in the sight and called customer service about getting another one and they sent me a whole new sight. The lady I talked to recommended using some lock tite which I had already decided to do. No other problems since then. They say they have a lifetime warranty and I believe them. It is a DOA only pistol and the trigger pull is kinda long but considering the price that doesn't bother me. It is hammer fired by a mostly concealed hammer. As far as I'm concerned I got my moneys worth and would not hesitate to buy another.

Ok, I googled it per suggestion and I now know what they are.
It's not a bad looking gun and the price is great.
The reviewer said the trigger is not good for accuracy though.
He also said it was too small of a grip for him but didn't mention how big his hands were.
Other than those two things, no negatives, no stoppages.
He did say the first one he shot, part of the rear sight fell off after a few rounds.
He said after contacting the company they sent him a complete rear sight, so CS seems to be good.
I don't know if that was the cx1 or 2.
Let us know what you find out.
I don't feel as dumb now.

Hickcock45 did a review of these guns that's worth watching.

Yes he did. I have the CPX 1 for an in the truck gun a buddy bought me new. I had a few problems when new the company took care of them. It's been fine since.

Watch hickok45 video and decide

I had the CPX2 for a short while. After a cleaning, I couldn't get the take down pin back in far enough to put the slide back on. It just wouldn't go! I took it back to the LGS where I got it, and he couldn't get it back in either. He gave me credit on a Shield. I probably could've utilized the lifetime warranty, but after only a few days of having it, I just got a bad taste in my mouth. It did seem to handle well for the few shots I ran through it.

I have only handled one. The owner was not a gun guy and was having reliability problems. It was pretty dry so I suggested some oil before he did anything else. Other than that, it seemed to have a thoroughly lousy trigger. If they work for $300, then people will buy them. For serious defense, consider having two.

I bought one of the two tone ones. For reasons I forget, I even ended up with four mags for it. Some people apparently modify 59/5900 series mags to make their own high capacity mags. My example is now sitting on consignment at a local gunshop.

I did not hate it. It was the epitome of "okay". It was reliable with fmjs and Hornady 135 gr fancy jhps. The gun seemed better made than the KelTec P11 I owned ages ago.

The trigger pull was not great, but I could have gotten used to it.

I did not, other than seemingly being lighter, think it better than the G26 and G27 pistols I had in years past. But it sells for less than those

In the end, I just did not warm up to it. I would take it back and keep it without feeling too bad if it did not sell. At the same time, I do not miss it.

I do not what long term durability and reliability is like. I also do not know how well one would work if it got dirty.

I have not really replaced mine with anything. I retain a Taurus PT92 as a "best to have a 9mm around" option. Keep in mind that this is not a place where a small pocket size 9mm is really needed.
