Turns out this knife set was made by Smith and Wesson, sort of.... S&W owns Taylor Brands that now owns the Schrade Knife brand. Who'd a thunk it? Bought this in a thrift store. Nice set of knives even if they aren't anything special. I like them. So it seems I own another Smith and Wesson.

...made by Smith & Wesson, sort of... Not hardly! Taylor made S&W's knives, and other brands, and their own line of cutlery items, and has been acquired by American Outdoor Brands corporation, which also own Smith & Wesson, so both companies are under the same umbrella now. Hopefully, AOB will not be outsourcing their production to Asia for awhile. Ed.

In any case it's a nice set. According to a collector of Imperial Schrade knives I spoke to, it was made by Taylor in China. It has no markings on it or the tin, to indicate where it was made. But considering when it was made and for who it was made, China is the likeliest.

Hopefully Smith and Wesson will not follow suit but since they and Taylor are now owned by AOB, it could happen.

Taylor Cutlery had many knives made in China, including knives made for S&W. Whether AOB will follow suit now that they control Taylor, remains to be seen. Not all China made knives are poor quality and Taylor had specs in place to keep the China production quality better. Ed.
