Did a lot of reading on this forum before picking up my M&P 15-22 this last weekend. I want to put a scope on it mainly for target shooting. I have looked at the NcStar STP3942G (P4 Sniper reticle) and the STM3942G (Mil-dot reticle). Any thoughts on which would be better for my use in target shooting?

NC Star is a good scope. It's entirely up to you which you would prefer more, or which one would be easier to use in your own case. They are almost the same. I would prefer mil-dot because I would be taking longer distance shots as well as up close. Maybe you would like P4 Sniper just for simple cross hairs.

Scope Question

Not wanting to start a new thread.... thinking of scoping my m&p 15-22.... it's used mostly for target, indoors, outdoors plinking, and very minimal long range. Seeking opinions as to reflex and/or holographic scope or red dot and if so, I have less than $100 to shell out.... I have never been fond of scopes with specific eye relief . Thoughts?

Thanks.

If you are looking for accuracy, then get rid of the red dot. They are only good for Close Quarters Combat.

I went with this Leapers scope from Opticsplanet.

Leapers UTG 3-12x44mm SWAT IE AO Mildot EZ-TAP Water Proof Riflescope FREE S&H SCP3-UM312AOIEW. Leapers UTG Riflescopes, Leapers Riflescopes.

I don't use the fancy colors but you can change the cross hair colors to any of 32 colors. Seems well made and priced right as it includes mounts. Dialed in and dead accurate for the price. So far so good and it looks awesome on the 15-22.

Opticsplanet has super fast shipping and is priced right.

Good luck . . .

Another option is a Nikon Monarch Red Dot Sight VSD 1x30 Team RealTree APG. Natchez has this one on sale for $160. Not real fond of the RealTree effect but I bet that could be black real quick. I need a scope, you guys have any thoughts on this one?

The old saying, "You get what you Pay for" plays here. Nikon makes excellent scopes.

After a couple hours of reading reviews today I ordered a Nikon. There are a lot of other scoped out there with very good reviews, but Nikon edged out the others by a tiny bit from what I could find.
