SD40 and SD9 barrel swap?

I love my SD40 so i was thinking of getting the SD9. But i was also wondering if the barrels and mags are interchangeable. Has anyone tried this with these two?

I have no idea... one would think that because the guns have the exact same dimensions that you could swap them out but I'm sure it's not that easy. Interesting question though.

I'm wondering this too. I want to shoot cheaper 9mm ammo to train with or hell, even use as my main round. No one had the SD9 when I was looking for a gun so I went with the 40.

I would think not. The .40 has a larger bolt face than the 9mm, the extractor would be different.

The M&P also has a bolt face larger than the 9mm and it works.

I'm not sure on the extractor though, it should be the same part #.

Theres about .030 difference in rim size between the .40 and 9mm.

I can't find part numbers for the SDVE guns to compare.

Recoil spring
Breechface
Mag well size difference
Extractor
Barrel

For the money id just buy the 9mm, nothing will ruin your day at the range like a 9mm shot out of a 40cal barrel.

Recoil Spring won't be a problem.

The face and extractor was already addressed.

Mag. size not sure about.

Barrel- Your not shooting a 9mm out of a .40 barrel.

Hmmm you seem to be missing my point.....by having the same gun convert from 9mm to 40 you risk the chance of loading a 9mm when you have the 40 barrel. I havent checked part numbers but id imagine the 40 has a heavier recoil spring or at least id hope so. Mag well is larger in the 40. This has already been gone over and over and over in countless threads

You have the same problem with the SD as with the Sigma.....now will the barrel fit yes so go right ahead and give it a try. You stated that you didnt even know that the magwells are different sizes so your knowledge on this seems to be lacking. So why are you trying to argue?

Not arguing trying to find out if a barrel from a SD9 will fit on a sd40.

The M&P models work, wondering about the SD models not the Sigma.

Thee recoil springs are the same by the way.
