I am just having a heck of a time getting used to the trigger on this bugger. I think my main issue is the resistance all the way to the actual point of firing. I find myself wondering when the stupid thing will finally go bang. I've recently dry fired a few other pistols at a gun shop recently and even with a fair distance, it's hardly noticeable due to the lightness of the pull. Will this resistance eventually lessen as time goes on? If not, time to trade. :(

It will get better or you will get used to it. If you don't mind doing 10 minutes worth of work you could install the apex polymer trigger....made a huge improvement in mine.

Edit: just noticed you said sd9....is it the sd9ve or the older sd9?

Sorry, it's the VE. Did the Apex lessen the resistance or just the travel distance?

I just got used to it. Put 1000 rounds and tons of dry fire until I did anything to my SD9VE and then i only did a polish on the trigger bar and sear.

It really just shortened the pull....I never had a problem with the pull weight but this upgrade is definitely worth it.

If you field strip the gun and look at the right side of the frame from the tip you will see the trigger bar. Pull the trigger back and you will see it push backwards against another piece of metal. Thats the sear block....basically you take the sear block out by removing the roll pin and polish the interface between the sear block and trigger bar.

Or you fire a thousand rounds through it and let it polish itself.😀

Polish the trigger bar and sear? Please enlighten an ignoramus.
Check my 1000 rounds and counting thread for the details.
It did not shorten or even lighten the pull, but did make it a bit smoother.

Trade. Be sure and get a single action trigger.

I'm seriously considering the Sig P320 compact. I've seen it described as single action/ double action, whatever that means. I've dry fired one and love the trigger and the feel of it. I even like the sound of the slide. It feels and sounds smooth.

I also replaced the trigger with an Apex trigger. I did not replace anything else...no springs etc. Made a great deal of difference as for the smoothness of the pull....the travel has gotten better with firing rounds.

Hey Shutterbug,

The spring kit will lessen the "resistance" by a noticeable amount.

The trigger will shorten the pretravel greatly as well as the reset length by a small amount. And the break will be cleaner.

The "polishing" that is being talked about will take care of itself fairly soon, not 1000 rounds. Probably closer to 75.

When you take the gun apart to put in the trigger and/or springs, you will see there is no real machine marks or such that you find on say behind the sideplate of a revolver.

There really is nothing of significance to stone. The little marks that come from any machining are not near enough to create any measurable friction and they will smooth themselves out in 50-75 or so rounds anyways.

I have put in 8 of these springs and trigger kits in now.. a couple for me and some for my buddies. And they make a wonderful difference.
